The first batch of photo submissions for The RollerBlog’s Super Seventies Photo Contest are in! The contest ends at midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST), Saturday, March 1, 2008 so keep those pictures a’comin.
Feast your eyes on these lovely seventies photos:
Lori from Heaven Graphics submitted this gem. She says “I’m in the front on the right in my cool rock and roll t shirt and feathered hair. Was taken around 1976 at a birthday party for my 88 year old great grandmother who lived to be 101 yrs old. The red head behind me is my sister and other various cousins”
The next submission is from
Neon Bubble. Says Mr. Bubble, “[this picture is] of me sporting the most awesome fashion decision by a parent you’ve ever seen, probably in around 1974 at a guess based on how old I look.”
Not content with one seventies picture,
Herb Urban submitted three fabulous photos from the glorious decade:
Foolsville 2.0 submitted the following photo from 1972. According to Mr. Fool, the picture includes “my deceased brother-in-law Ross, my deceased wife Jane, my now 30 something son David, and me holding him.” Love the pants!

Eddy from
Magpies Zone submitted the next photo. Eddy says “This is an old picture of myself in December 1971. According to my father this photo was taken when I was still 8 months-old. We were attending a wedding ceremony of one of my family.”

The following photo is courtesy of Lori at NastyMcT. Says Lori, “It’s me, circa 1976 I believe, before I got smart and decided to take over my own hair again. In addition to the really groovy shirt and pants I’m sporting, I know you’re jealous of the red CORDED rotary phone, and high tech “digital” clock radio. Oh, and don’t pass over those red satin sheets on my mom’s bed.”

And, last but not least, we have a picture from Scott at
My Thermos.com. Says Scott “That’s me on the right and my neighbor and best friend Craig on the left. Notice the wallpapered door (as if you could miss it) and the Sears Toughskins. I don’t have an exact date but I’m guessing it was about ‘77 or ‘78 as I appear to be about 10.”

These pictures are AWESOME! How oh how will we ever choose?

Glad to see Herb finally smiled in the third photo!
I love the clothes in these pics!! Oh, what bad fashion years we had.

What an absolutely great post! Seeing all these throw back faces!

These are all awesome (excluding mine, just to be modest). I love Neon Bubble’s overalls. It looks like a sofa pattern we all had growing up. That is what I love most about 70’s fashions. You could wear floral clothes than blended right in with a floral love seat and matching floral wallpaper. When will floral everything make a comeback?

mark - i have the feeling that wallpapered doors are about to make a comeback in a big way. you could be at the front of a very exciting wallpapered door fashion revolution.
noelevz - i have the feeling i’ll do another contest somtime, so if you don’t make it by saturday you’ll probably have another chance

My vote goes to Mr. Bubbles and his psychedelic jump suit! That’s amazing! No chance of him getting lost! I always liked those round metal zipper pulls.
When I told my kids that we had “digital” clocks where the little tile flipped over once every minute they looked at me like I was making it up, but there is the proof!
Love the woman in Herb’s photo chowing on that plate, and those funky curtains on the window behind her.
