Margie and Edna Dish on The Goonies
It’s no big secret that I’m a big fan of the 1970s and 1980s. Seeing as how I have an entire blog devoted to the subject … well… the cat’s pretty much out of the bag. So I thought it would be interesting to see what some of my fellow bloggers thought about the subject. And, lucky for me, one of my favorite blogs of all time took me up on my offer: Margie and Edna’s Basement.
Here are a few words about Margie and Edna, from their blog: “Margie and Edna are two elderly sisters, the oldest (and nosiest) residents of the fictional town of Jericho, KS. They are also the brainchildren of Jane and Beth, two “Jericho” fans who clearly needed a creative outlet. Margie and Edna are the result.”
So, there you have it. Enjoy.
Edna: Margie, look here at this blog I found. It’s for people in their 70s and 80s, isn’t that nice? We are the forgotten generation, you know.
Margie: Lord, help this fool. Edna, it’s not for people like us. It’s about the 1970s and 1980s. Heavens above!
Edna: Oh, well then…that makes a little bit more sense. I did wonder why she spent so much time talking about Star Wars.
You know Margie, I enjoyed those decades a lot. Seemed like a lot of good movies came out then. Did you have any favorites?
Margie: Edna, you know very well what my favorite movie is. You just think I’ll be ashamed to say but I’m not. I love The Goonies. My goodness, I got all tangled up in that movie.
I recently heard that there might be a sequel. I’ve waited years for that. What’s your favorite?
Edna: Margie, just admit it, you keep your hearing aid off when I talk to you! I’ve been talking about The Goonies for years, you nitwit! What’s not to love about that movie? Lost treasure, a real pirate ship, a bunch of children who clearly didn’t have enough parental supervision… Oh my, I do so love that movie.
A sequel, you say? Well, I’ll believe that when I see it.
Margie: What’d you say? I’ll believe there’s a sequel when I see it. All I know is that I do love a pirate and looking for lost treasure.
Edna: This is why I don’t talk to you anymore, Margie.

That’s great. I think the best part of that movie was the Cyndi Lauper son and video though. it was awesome. I’m going to have go see if I have a copy.
