The New Record Player
We’ve had our new record player for a little over a month now, and I am smitten. Yes, the record player does technically belong to RollerReggie (it was his birthday present after all) but what can I say - records are fun.
I’m now on the hunt to find new seventies (and eighties) gems to add to our collection. So far I have hunted for records at Georgetown Records, Value Village, and the Goodwill.
Here are a few of my favorites:

Sundown by Gordon Lightfoot (1974)

Rainbow by Neil Diamond (1973)

Come on Over by Olivia Newton-John (1976)

It’s Impossible by Perry Como (1970)

You will laugh at this, but I’m gonna tell it anyways. When I was growing up in the 70’s and 80’s my parents had Bill Cosby’s standup on several records. I would listen to those over and over again. They still make me laugh to this day!
They also had Peter, Paul, and Mary records. What can I say? “Daddy’s takin’ us to the zoo tomorrow!”

I hate CD’s, so I rejoice whenever I hear someone has gone back to the ol’ record player. Why you ask? Don’t get me started.
Analog sounds better than digital - no question about it.
Records can withstand the wildest parties (many a record has had beer and cheese dip split upon it and kept on playing), whereas the CD can be completely ruined by a slight thumbprint.
Album artwork was huge - you could stare at it for hours. CD cases are barely bigger than a post-it note.
And lastly, albums are unique - they often become collector’s items because they cannot be easily duplicated. Whereas the CD can be completely copied with two clicks of a mouse.
I could go on and on (and kind of already have). So, I’ll spare you any further speech and just say “Viva la Vinyl!!!!”
