Captain Cosmic!
Those of you growing up in the Bay Area during the late 1970s may remember this gem: Captain Cosmic!
Hosted by Bob Wilkins in a dashing super-hero outfit along with his trusty sidekick Wonder Robot 2T2, Captain Cosmic aired every weekday on Channel 2 out of San Francisco. The show introduced young audiences to sci-fi television episodes such as Ultraman, Godzilla, Thunderbirds, and most notabley, Star Blazers. Real fans could join the Captain Cosmic Fan Club, complete with a membership card and the Captain Cosmic Secret Crypto Code.
Thanks to wngl for suggesting that I introduce this long-lost seventies television show to RollerBlog readers everywhere. If you have a seventies gem to suggest, feel free to drop me a line at rollerblog at gmail dot com (or, if you are member of Entrecard, feel free to message me using the Entrecard messaging feature).

Sadly I do not knopw this show - but I sure wish I did! This guy appears to rule! If you are looking for topic suggestions, well - I have a few but certainly Charlies Angels warrants some consideration. Love the blog, but I suspect you may have already known that.

Ninja - not having grew up in the Bay Area during the 1970s I actually haven’t seen it either. Am contemplating buying the DVD
Canucklehead - Charlies Angels! Good idea - adding them to the list.

Thanks Rollerkaty for taking me back in time thirty years!
Bob’s other show “Creature Features”,which was on Saturday night, was all about cheezy B grade monster movies, and a major part of my childhood.
He would sit on his throne puffing cigars, and introduce the Best of the worst horror and Japanese monster flix.
There is a cool blurb abou him here.

Here’s the “Capt. Cosmic Secret Crypto-Code”. I waited 3 weeks to get my card back in 1978/9 … I was watching Star Blazers when a 4.5 earthquake hit while in San Jose … I loved this show. At least San Francisco’s KTVU channel 2 had some good programming on at the time …
