It also goes for folk fashions. I went to a kitchsy German restaurant last week where the waiters were dressed in ridiculously stupid lederhosen that made them look like they should be wearing beanies-- while the waitresses all wore these amazing push-up St. Pauli girl outfits! I notice that, when it comes to period wear, the style for women ALWAYS looks better than the style for men.
