Happy Mother’s Day

May 10, 2009 By: rollerkaty (Who am I?) Category: 1977, Family Archive, Holidays 1 Comment →

Happy Mother’s Day to all you Moms and women out there who have made a difference in a child’s life.

Here is a picture of my Mom with my brother and me on my second birthday:

My mom had four children over the course of seventeen years and this year my youngest sister is graduating from high school and my mom *finally* won’t have any more kids at home.  Mom is an incredibly caring, giving, smart, fun, and loving woman.  Now that I am a mom myself, I look to her as an example and just hope to be as good of a mom to RollerBoy as she was (and still is!) to me .

Love you, Mom!  And thanks for the Raggedy Ann doll (which I believe you made yourself)!

Me and My Dad with our Atari 800 XL

A few things to note in this photo:

  • My dad’s man perm (he only permed his hair once that I can remember)
  • Our state of the art computer: The Atari 800 XL. This particular model used floppy discs instead of cartridges.

December 31, 1978

It’s my birthday today! To celebrate the occasion, I found this picture from the vaults of the family archives. This picture was taken on my 2nd birthday on December 31, 1978. My mom made a Raggedy Ann doll that year, which I am holding in the photo. My brother and my mom are also pictured in the photo.

Christmas 1977

December 19, 2007 By: User Imagerollerkaty (Who am I?) Category: 1977, Christmas, Family Archive 2 Comments →

That’s me on the left at 11 months old. My big bro is just under four years old in this photo.

I don’t recall this Christmas, of course. However I do remember the days when we used to routinely adorn our Christmas tree with silver tinsel. I loved tinsel. I loved putting tinsel on the tree. I loved playing with tinsel. I just loved everything about tinsel when I was a little girl.

Tinsel had a funny way of popping up in unexpected places long after Christmas ended. We used to keep discovering tinsel all over the house clear through the next summer. Then one year we suddenly did not have tinsel any more. I’m sure my mom got fed up with pulling tinsel out of our noses and wherever else and just quit buying it. I haven’t seen tinsel in years. I don’t know if they even make it any more.
