Wordless Wednesday: Spinal Tap Edition

Many happy returns to Iggy Pop, who turned 62 on April 21. I have to admit that Lust for Life is still one of my all-time favorite songs (despite its embarrassingly prolific use in T.V. cruise ship advertisements).
April 21 also happens to be the birthday of my son, who turned 13 yesterday. Happy Birthday RollerBoy!

Our recent viewing of The Dark Crystal inspired The RollerBlog family to view another classic Jim Henson film. Labyrinth (1986) stars Jennifer Connelly as Sarah, a headstrong teenager who goes on a quest to save her baby brother from the clutches of the Goblin King (played by David Bowie).
I remember watching this movie as a child and finding the Goblin King a very scary character. Now that I am an adult and a big David Bowie fan, I can’t help but come to the same conclusion. The Goblin King is pretty darn scary. Maybe it is the big hair or the freaky make-up or the tight spandex pants or the pirate shirts. Or perhaps a combination of all of the above.
Some of my favorite characters from the movie:

Jareth, the Goblin King

Sarah

William the Worm

It’s been years since I’ve watched the original Star Wars movies. At RollerBoy’s insistence, we purchased a boxed set with the entire trilogy and spent the past week watching all three movies - A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Return of the Jedi.
I was inspired to pull out a few of my old Star Wars trading cards. Here are a few more of my favorites:

Luke’s Secret Yen for Action!

Princess Leia

And, last but not least, the ever popular
“Member of the Evil Empire”

I wish I owned satin nightwear of Arnel triacetate and nylon with elbow-length sleeves, self-tie sash, contrast trim, two waist pockets and an elastic waistband. Le Sigh.
