Star Wars Holiday Special Countdown
It’s that time of year again.
Time to set out the holiday decorations, sip egg nog, and to feverishly await the arrival of Christmas Day. Forget Santa Claus, stockings, and presents… Christmas Day is all about our annual viewing of The Star Wars Holiday Special.
You’ve never heard of The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)? This made-for-TV special features appearances by Harvey Korman, Diahann Carroll, Jefferson Starship, *and* all of your favorite Star Wars characters. And the dialogue is spoken almost entirely in Wookie. For the full scoop on the movie you can read my Star Wars Holiday Special review or watch the movie for yourself.
This year I created a Star Wars Holiday Special Countdown Widget because I just can’t wait until Christmas Day. Feel free to display the widget on your own blog if you are so inspired.
Happy Life Day!

Turkish Star Wars
Thanks to WNGL for turning me on to more Star Wars fun…. the Turkish Star Wars movie!

The following clip includes the the beginning portion of the movie. The music and most of the footage seems very familiar somehow….

May the Force be With You
It’s been years since I’ve watched the original Star Wars movies. At RollerBoy’s insistence, we purchased a boxed set with the entire trilogy and spent the past week watching all three movies - A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Return of the Jedi.
I was inspired to pull out a few of my old Star Wars trading cards. Here are a few more of my favorites:

Luke’s Secret Yen for Action!

Princess Leia

And, last but not least, the ever popular
“Member of the Evil Empire”

The Awesome One
And who is The Awesome One, you ask?
Wonder Woman is pretty awesome. As is David Bowie, Flash Gordon, David Hasselhoff, and Neil Diamond.
But none of these fine folks are as awesome as the awesomest one of all. One who simply exudes awesomitude. One who puts others to shame with his sheer awesomeness.
One otherwise known as Darth Vader. And I know this is true because it is proclaimed on an Empire Strikes Back Trading Card:
Anyone know the answer to the trivia question on the back of the card? “The sandpeople travel across the sandy wastes of Tatooine on the backs of huge, furry creatures. These beasts are known as…?”

Hero or Mercenary?
For today’s Wordless Wednesday post, I have another Star Wars trading card featuring our favorite rogue Han Solo.

Han Solo … Hero or Mercenary?
Hmmm…. that’s a hard one. Going to have to think long and hard about this intriguing deeply philosophical question.

Pardon Me Sir, But…Ohhhh!
For today’s Wordless Wednesday post, I present you with a Star Wars Trading Card - this one is from The Empire Strikes back and was published in 1980:
That darn C-3PO! Always making a nuisance of himself!
Thanks to WNGL for providing the card.

Star Wars Eggheads
Easter eggs galore!
This morning the Rollerblog household awoke to a household booby-trapped with eggs hiding in all sorts of sneaky places.
Rollerboy spent the morning hunting for eggs (I can see a few from here that he missed, actually - he’ll have fun finding those in the next few months). Rollerboy also got an Easter basket filled with candy, a whoopie cushion, a rubber chicken that releases jelly beans out of its rear end, and a cute fuzzy white rabbit. As an added bonus the rabbit quacks when one touches its little furry little paw.
(The “Easter Bunny” did not realize this when purchasing said white rabbit at Fred Meyers yesterday. The “Easter Bunny” also failed to remember that Rollerboy can’t have Cadbury eggs this year because of his braces. Oops!)
I’ve never really understood the fascination with combining various cutesy animals together at Eastertime. Rabbits and ducks? Rabbits and eggs? Rabbits and… well anything?
So we decided to mix it up a little this year and dial down the cutesy factor. We have The Star Wars Holiday Special at Christmastime, why not bring a little Star Wars love to Easter as well?
Wait a minute - cute little Darth Vader hat?
Now we’ve gone and done it - instead of making Easter less cutesy, we’ve cute-sified Star Wars.
Oh, the horror!

I Heart the Science Fiction Museum
This weekend we packed the family in the car and headed to the Experience Music Project (EMP). We saw some some cool guitars (including two that belonged to Jimi Hendrix) and a hands-on musical lab where we got to learn how to harmonize with Heart.
Good times.

I am officially the biggest nerd of all time.
